The Best of the Best Researchers Are Starting to Pay Attention

As a chronic Lyme disease sufferer, I spend hours each day thinking about how we need to get the message out to the world that Lyme disease is REAL, and that it is unfortunately, EVERYWHERE.

That we need better, faster and affordable testing.

That we need our doctors to be aware of coinfections.

That we need safe and effective treatments for even the worst of the Neuro Lyme patients.

There are hundreds of Lyme disease folks in my own home town, HUNDREDS! Still the brightest doctors in some of the best hospitals in the south were not aware that my strange neurological symptoms could be from Lyme Disease. How is that possible? We need to have a voice.

A fellow sufferer and dear friend of mine has begun to connect me with some of her amazing contacts. And through that process, I have the honor of guest blogging for Dr. Michele Basso! BAM! She is the Director of the Washington National Primate Research Center. Her research focuses on "systems neuroscience, neural circuits, and computational neuroscience." (Yes, that is BIG STUFF, HUGE STUFF, NEUROLOGY STUFF!)

There are others I hope to reach, to one day meet, and to share my story with: Kris Newby, Dana Parish, Dr. Richard I. Horowitz, to name only a few at the top of my list.

These are all people BRAVE enough to take on Lyme politics, research AMAZING treatment options, and EDUCATE the public about this epidemic that is sadly so often ignored.
